To say I was a church kid would be a grand understatement. I personally believe that I was born into the greatest family who raised me with an understanding very early on that whatever God’s will for my life was, that it is more important than anything else in the world.

Thankfully, as a eight-year old boy I understood that the first step was salvation. It was a summer, Sunday morning when my pastor (Toby Powers) preached on the free gift of salvation, and how I must accept that free gift. My mother sang the old song “Sorry, I Never Knew You” during the invitation time. I was under a pew where I cried and accepted the Savior into my heart.

Unfortunately, I have not always been faithful to the will of God. Being saved so young, I have sinned more since that day than before…. And I have prayed a lot of prayers since then, but I have never had to pray for the Lord to save my soul again, because that was settled once and for all.

I can say His grace has been sufficient. So much so, that God counted me faithful and called me into the ministry at the age of 15.

I was blessed to attend the Alabama School of Gospel Music as a teenager and there found who would become my wife (Hope Cochran), and the mother of our 2 boys (Samuel & A.J.). God called our family to serve the people of Son Rise Baptist Church, and it was there that I served as Pastor for four years.

Since October of 2025, God placed us back at my home church. It is a true joy to serve as the Associate Pastor of Truth Baptist Church in Bremen, Ga. alongside of Senior Pastor Toby Powers.

I can say that I don’t regret one moment serving Jesus.
